MasterChef's Gregg Wallace has opened up about living with a painful stomach condition, diverticulitis, which can be so severe that he "doubles up in pain".The 60 year old TV personality was diagnosed with the condition in 2018, which is common among Brits who don't consume enough fibre.

Certain foods can trigger his symptoms and when he forgets to avoid them - as he admits he sometimes does - it can lead to unpleasant consequences.

Despite having to sample meals all day for his BBC duties, eating the wrong thing can pose a risk to his diverticula, pouches in the walls of his intestines.

According to the NHS, in rare cases, this condition can become serious, leading to a colostomy or even a hole in the bowel causing peritonitis.
