Gardening expert Monty Don has advised people on how to reduce water waste whilst tending to their plants outside. Even though the heatwave has now come to an end, the weather's unpredictability means we could be seeing sweltering temperatures once again before the summer is over.
And although hosepipe bans aren't as common in Scotland compared to the rest of the UK, it's always a good idea to try and reduce the amount of water waste that you generate when caring for your garden.
One of the ways that you can do this is by hanging on to your old sink water left over from washing the dishes, as this can be used to sprinkle over plants - but only certain types.
Birmingham Live reports that Monty, star of BBC Gardeners' World, offered his advice for reducing water waste during the heatwave we saw last summer.
