BBC Breakfast forced off air after panic over fire alarm sounds

BBC Breakfast was forced off air this morning as fire alarms rang through the studio. The show was pulled off air as the sirens went off and an announcer could be heard saying: “Attention, attention, please evacuate the building by the nearest available exit.” The interruption came as BBC presenters Roger Johnson and Rachel Burden were in the middle of an interview with Apprentice winner Harpeet Kaur.

The presenters were clearly unsure how to react by the sound of the alarm and Rachel was first to address viewers about it. As the show ended early, viewers were left with a blank screen saying BBC Breakfast and were forced to wait for the next show to begin.

Viewers were quick to take to Twitter about the unexpected events on the breakfast show. One said: “Guys if your have a fire alarm going off and there is no planned test, it’s probably a really wise thing to down tools and get out of the building.

If your workplace doesn’t go through fire safety on your induction, do have words. #bbcbreakfast”. Another wrote: “ #BBCBreakfast acting like all of us when the fire alarm goes off in the office...just sit there hoping it goes off as you really can't be arsed to go and stand with all your colleagues in the car park whilst some power hungry tabard wearing man tries to count everyone”.
