Former Strictly Come Dancing star Dan Walker is said to be lined-up to sign a £1.5 million deal with Channel 5. It was announced on Monday 4 April that the 45 year old TV presenter was leaving his £295,000 job at BBC, and admitted it was a “massive decision” for him.

Sharing the news on Twitter, he wrote: “Hello, it's Dan here. I have a little bit of news for you. In the next few weeks, I'm going to be leaving BBC Breakfast and moving to 5 News and to Channel 5. "I'm really excited but this has also been a massive decision for me because I love BBC Breakfast, I love working alongside Sally [Nugent] and I love the team there. "But Channel 5 came with big ambitions, with big plans and I don't think opportunities like this come around very often and I can't wait." While Dan said he isn’t “motivated by money” to his co-host Sally, the sum he’s allegedly set to receive by moving over to Channel 5 has been revealed.

A source said to The Sun about his move: “He’d made it pretty clear he wanted to front prime-time evening shows on the BBC for quite some time. “He went to them to discuss his future after getting the offer from Channel 5 in the hope that they’d give him what he wanted to keep him on the breakfast show.” They went on: “The details have yet to be finalised but could include a quiz show or a programme in the style of Susan Calman’s Grand Days Out.” OK!
