BBC bosses were not aware of Graziano Di Prima’s alleged misconduct towards his Strictly Come Dancing partner Zara McDermott until footage emerged, sources have claimed.

BBC insiders claim that bosses acted swiftly once aware of the situation. Graziano, 30, is accused of hitting and kicking Zara, 27, during dance rehearsals last year.

It was confirmed on 13 July that the professional dancer had been axed from Strictly following the allegations. Zara, who did not report the claims herself, was invited in to speak to the BBC about Graziano after concerns were raised.

It is claimed she had an "honest" conversation with BBC investigators, which included two ex-Met police officers. The BBC did not take action beforehand as no one was aware of the physical nature of the claims, a source has said.
