Holby City actress Laila Rouass has come to the defence of her former Strictly Come Dancing partner Anton Du Beke amidst "false accusations, online abuse and harassment".The 53 year old star, also known for her roles in Footballers' Wives and Primeval, danced with Du Beke on the seventh series of the hit show in 2009, before he took up his current role as a judge.
And in recent weeks, it has been claimed that she made a complaint against Anton - something which she has confirmed is not the case.The popular series has been caught up in controversy recently following allegations from several former contestants - with Graziano Di Prima and Giovanni Pernice both cut from the show's line-up as a result of allegations.
Earlier this week, BBC director general Tim Davie issued an apology to celebrities who have had an experience that "hasn't been wholly positive".
And taking to Instagram on Sunday to clear things up, Laila wrote: "There has been much speculation over the last couple of weeks about alleged complaints I have made to the BBC regarding my time at Strictly." "I had no intention of making a statement but now feel it's necessary as over the last couple of weeks there have been false accusations, online abuse and harassment aimed at me and my family." "Strictly is a show I have always loved, so when I was offered the opportunity to compete, I was ecstatic.
