BBC chiefs are lining up a megabucks offer to tempt Phillip Schofield from ITV’s This Morning, The Sun can reveal. Bosses have discussed making an approach to the telly veteran, 58, when his golden handcuffs deal ends.
If he agrees it would bring an end to his long-standing This Morning partnership with co-host Holly Willoughby, 39. ITV are likely to put up a fight to keep their star, who is thought to earn around £1million a year.
A source said: “Phil’s a telly legend. He has thousands of loyal fans who follow his every move. “He’s become a prime target for the BBC who think he would be the perfect face for a number of new shows. "His contract with ITV ends in 2021 so the BBC want to start a conversation.
