The Traitors will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer for a third series following the soon-to-be-aired second series of the hit reality TV show filmed at a Scots castle. The programme, presented by Claudia Winkleman, follows 22 strangers in a game of strategy and suspicion, as they compete to win up to £120,000.The scheduling of the second series will be announced “in due course”, according to the BBC, and members of the public can sign up to be in the third series now.
Not much information has been released about the upcoming second season of the competition, though it is likely that it will use the same location as the first — Ardross Castle in the Highlands — which was also the setting for the US version of the series hosted by Scots actor Alan Cumming.
The 19th-century castle, situated in Alness near Inverness, was built in the 19th century in the Scottish baronial style. It includes spectacular formal gardens and around 100 acres of parkland.
Since The Traitors premiered, Ardross Castle has earned many new fans, including Winkleman herself, who last November commented: "It felt sometimes like we were in a painting if that’s not too cheesy."And on the first day the weather systems were bonkers.
