Batman and Lost Boys director Joel Schumacher has died aged 80 after a year-long battle with cancer.The filmmaker rose to fame after directing three-hit films, the Brat Pack movies St.

Elmo’s Fire (1985) and The Lost Boys (1987), and Flatliners (1990). He later went on to direct the John Grisham adaptations The Client (1994) and A Time to Kill (1996).

Schumacher’s films often divided critics, including his Batman films, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.His adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s musical Phantom of the Opera in 2004 was nominated for three Academy Awards, as well as three Golden Globes, including best motion picture – musical or comedy.Schumacher most recently directed two episodes of Netflix’s House of Cards in 2013, before.
