Bra tycoon Baroness Mone has paid £50,000 to settle a lawsuit after she called a banker a “waste of a white man’s skin”. Richard Lynton-Jones, who is of Indian heritage, sued the Ultimo founder and Tory peer over the comment in a WhatsApp message.

He was a guest on a superyacht which accidentally struck her husband Doug Barrowman’s luxury yacht off the French Riviera. The 2019 crash resulted in the death of deckhand Jake Feldwhere, 29.

Glaswegian Mone, 50, appointed to the House of Lords by David Cameron in 2015, also described Lynton-Jones’s fiancee as a “mental loony” and “nut case bird”.

Lawyers for Mone said she believed he was “100 per cent white and British” and denied racism. A criminal probe was dropped last year and she is understood to have settled the civil case this year.In a joint statement, the peer and the banker said: “Both parties have settled their differences on a no fault or damages basis in relation to the alleged racist claim.” In a 10-page High Court claim demanding £200,000 in aggravated damages, Lynton-Jones, 42, said Mone’s actions had caused him “enormous distress, embarrassment and injury to feelings”.He said: ‘I’ve done nothing wrong apart from be a victim of racism. “Racism has no place in this society, let alone for a member of the House of Lords.
