BARBARA Windsor fans have launched a social media campaign to have a commemorative statue erected in her home town in London.

Born and raised in Shoreditch, the Carry On and EastEnders actress died on Thursday aged 83, following a six-year battle with Alzheimer's.

Dame Barbara's TV pals Christopher Biggins and Paul O'Grady have already called for a service to be held in memoriam after Covid-19 rules are restricted.

Fans were equally frustrated at not being able to give her the send-off she deserves, taking to Twitter suggesting a permanent memorial be erected for the actress.
