Baileys is a popular drink enjoyed by many every Christmas, but fans are being warned not to do one thing with their beverage that experts claim could "wreak havoc" during the holiday.Even though it contains alcohol, the creamy Irish liquor has a short six month-shelf life and if you've got any left over that's no longer drinkable, you may be tempted to pour it down the sink.

But one tradesman is strongly advising against this, as doing so can lead to serious sink problems. The expert of MyBuilder.com explained that this is caused by the drink's high fat content, aligning it to other substances like grease and oils, which are known to solidify over time, creating nasty blockages. As reported by the Mirror, they said: "Cream liqueur drinks, such as the popular Christmas favourite, Baileys, can be a problem for your plumbing at Christmas.

While it may be delicious to drink, it doesn't keep for long and often ends up down the sink."However, this sort of beverage should never be disposed of in this way.

Cream liqueurs have a large fat content and as such fall into the category of FOG (Fats, Oils, and Greases). FOG should never go down the sink, as it sticks to pipes and can cause blockages.
