Dons boss Jim Goodwin is looking at a number of defensive and forward options as he looks to strengthen before the close of the window. Record Sport understands that the Australian international is one the names on his radar, as he looks at centre half options, to add competition to Ross McCrorie, Anthony Stewart and Liam Scales.
Aberdeen have other English and European defensive options on the go, knowing that they face competition for the centre half.
Pittodrie head of recruitment Darren Mowbray is hoping that the fact his brother, Tony, is Sunderland manager can help him get a deal over the line.The Sunderland boss is set to let Wright, who can also fill-in at right back, go but nothing will happen before this weekend.
Wright, 30, came through the youth ranks of Preston and has also had a spell at Bristol City. Goodwin is also in the market for another striker after letting Christian Ramirez move to Columbus Crew.
