Ayrshire road to close as route undergoes essential maintenance

Motorists are being advised that a closure will take place on a busy stretch of road through Ayrshire.The daytime road closure will be in place at a stretch of the B743 Muirkirk to Strathaven Road.As part of an ongoing programme to improve the condition of the road network, the Ayrshire Roads Alliance will carry out essential road resurfacing works on the stretch of road.The works will start on Tuesday, May 9 and could last for up to eight working days.To protect the roads operatives and the travelling public, a road closure will be implemented on weekdays only between 8am and 6pm.The affected area is from and including the junction of the U731 Greenock Water Road to the boundary with South Lanark.The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get all the local news in your area – plus features, football news and the latest on the coronavirus crisis – at your fingertips 24/7.The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories while you can customise your page with the sections that matter to you.The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now on iOS and Android.A signed diversion route will be in place via B743 to Strathaven, A71 to A719 Galston onto B7037 to B743 continuing through Sorn to A70 Muirkirk, before re-joining the B743 Muirkirk to Strathaven Road and vice versa.The works are weather dependent and road opening times may be delayed- if there is adverse weather.The Ayrshire Roads Alliance apologises for any inconvenience caused during these essential road works.
