Kevin Spacey accuser Anthony Rapp testified Tuesday that watching some of the veteran star’s flicks “felt unpleasantly familiar,” — particularly his seduction of a teen cheerleader in the 1999 hit film “American Beauty.”Rapp, 50, is suing the Oscar-winning actor for $40 million in Manhattan federal court, claiming Spacey tried to seduce him when he was 14 and attending a party at the then-26-year-old star’s Manhattan apartment.Rapp told jurors he was traumatized by the encounter, and uneasy when he watched the “American Beauty” scene where Spacey’s character, Lester Burnham, becomes “sexually involved with a teenage girl.” He said he had a similar reaction when he saw Spacey’s role as a workplace sexual harasser in the 1988 movie “Working Girl.”Rapp, an openly gay actor whose roles include the Broadway hit “Rent,” said he felt “as if someone poked me with a cattle prod,” and “jumped out of my seat.” while watching the film. But Rapp said he felt compelled to watch the movies because, as an actor, “I felt it was part of my job to see them.“As a fellow actor, I thought I had to do my best to get over it,” Rapp said.

But sources say an explosive new interview with founding member, main songwriter and stakeholder Roger Waters — in which he makes extensive remarks about Israel, Ukraine, Russia, the U.S. and other political matters that one could politely characterize as controversial — is giving at least one potential buyer cold feet and seems likely to lead others to rethink their positions. For years Waters has sounded off about politics in the press and at his concerts, most controversially Israel’s policies. But the new interview in Rolling Stone raises (or lowers) the bar considerably. While interviewer James Ball does his best to challenge some of Waters’ more far-fetched statements, the former Pink Floyd singer argues emphatically that some Jewish people in the U.S. and U.K. bear responsibility for the actions of Israel “because they pay for everything”; that well-documented accounts of Russian war crimes in Ukraine are “lies, lies, lies”; that the United States is “the most evil [country in the world] of all by a factor of at least 10 times”; that Russia’s brutal military involvement in Syria is justified because “they were there at the invitation of the Syrian government” (which is led by one of the world’s most murderous dictators, Bashar Assad), and more. Swift — who had attempted, unsuccessfully, to acquire the rights herself — was outraged, launching not only a global dialog about artists owning the rights to their work, but sticking it to the new owners by beginning a campaign to re-record all of those albums and encouraging her fans to stream the new “Taylor’s Versions” instead of the earlier ones; two such albums have been released to great success. She had few kind words for Braun in the process. Braun bore the substantial wrath of the Swifties for a year or two before selling off the catalog (for a tidy profit) and said he had attempted to speak with the singer about the issue multiple times after the sale was finally revealed, to little avail. He has since sold his own company to the South Korean entertainment powerhouse HYBE, and continues to run it and manage the careers of Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and others.

Avicii have announced that they have sold 75 per cent of the late musician’s recording and publishing rights to the Swedish company Pophouse.Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, died by suicide in 2018. Subsequently, his parents Klas Bergling and Anki Lidén have overseen his estate as well as a charitable foundation set up in his name.Klas Bergling said in a statement today (September 28): “My wife and I feel that as we are getting older, we do not have the right energy level or required skills to fully keep ahead of the new streaming and digital developments vital for such a big, international artist as Tim.”“Through this deal, we are also securing the Tim Bergling Foundation’s long-term finances, creating opportunity to act decisively on the foundation’s commitments to supporting such important issues as mental health and well-being of young people.”He went on to argue that the deal would bring Avicii’s music “to the widest possible audience” and “take care” of his international fanbase.“Since Tim took his life, as a family, we have not had sufficient time for his fans that they so deserve, and have lacked the ability to follow up on their correspondence and other contact with us.”“We leave neither Tim nor his contribution to the world.
