Asda shoppers may soon have to bring their own fruit and veg bags or pay 30p for recyclable one. From Monday the budget supermarket will stop providing plastic bags for fresh food in nine UK stores.
For those who forget or don't want to bring their own instead, 'Veggio' bags are available. They are made from recycled plastic water bottles.
Stores in Bridgend, Glasshoughton, Harrogate, Killingbeck, Middleton, Quedgeley, Swansea and two in York are involved in the trial.
The trial will run for four weeks. If customers feedback is positive, Asda could make the move permanent across all of its stores.
