The Kirkcudbright Parish Church redevelopment project fund is almost £2,000 to the good after a hugely successful art sale.

The premises were venue 56 on the Kirkcudbright Art and Crafts Trail and the entire inside of the building was transformed into a gallery for potential buyers to browse.

In the end, almost all the paintings and crafted items were sold – to the delight of organisers. Fundraising committee member Tracy Jones said: “We had a very busy four days and welcomed more than 1,000 visitors into the church to experience and enjoy our community Outreach Art Exhibition and stay a while to enjoy much needed refreshments. “This was a fundraiser for our development project, where all artwork was donated by local professional and amateur artists, art clubs and individuals of all ages. “We had over 80 pieces of artwork, watercolours, acrylics, oils, clay sculptures from a young art club, drawings from S3 academy students, line drawings and lots more.

And almost all exhibits were sold raising almost £2,000.” Tracy added: “I can confirm we raised £1,954.08 from the art exhibition. “This is certainly a milestone and one worth celebrating. “Grateful thanks go to all artists and supporters that kindly donated their artwork, to all the volunteers who welcomed visitors and to the summer festivities committee for allowing us to be part of this year’s Kirkcudbright Art and Crafts Trail.”
