Arsenal were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Lyon star Houssem Aouar over the summer and, with Mesut Ozil exiled from the squad by Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have been lacking a creative force in the centre of the park this season.
This has contributed to their poor form, with Arsenal scoring just 15 Premier League goals so far, with the only sides to have scored less making up the current bottom four.
Arsenal are expected to try and address their issues in January with a move for a creative midfielder but, according to a report from the Athletic, it is unlikely that they will revisit their interest in Aouar.
They have been linked with a number of other options, though, with the report naming out-of-favour Barcelona youngster Riqui.
