Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has defended the decision to play Alex Runar Runarsson in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.The summer signing endured a tough night, misjudging an early Manchester City cross, leading to a goal, before dropping a Riyad Mahrez free-kick into his own net in the second-half.Runarsson was also looking shaky with the ball at his feet throughout the 4-1 defeat at the Emirates.But Arteta insists it was the right decision to pick the 25-year-old over seasoned goalkeeper Bernd Leno.“He hasn’t played a lot of games for us, he’s just adapting to the league," the Arsenal boss said at full-time.“We all make mistakes and we have to support him.” Pressed on not using Leno in such a crucial game, Arteta doubled down on his selection.
