Ariana DeBose is in talks to star in a London revival of the classic musical Evita and the show’s original star Patti LuPone is reacting to the casting news.
If you didn’t know, Ariana won an Oscar for her work in the movie musical West Side Story and she previously was Tony-nominated for her performance in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.
Her Broadway credits also include Hamilton, A Bronx Tale, Pippin, and more. Ariana hasn’t been on stage in a musical since Summer in 2018, but that could change this year. Ariana said “if you’re going to do a revival of a property that is well known and well loved, it’s paramount to have a new vision, a new way in for today’s audiences.” Patti won a Tony Award for originating the role of Eva Peron in the 1979 production on Broadway.
