The Archbishop of Canterbury has assured churchgoers there is no change to guidance on places of worship after the government issued new rules banning social gatherings of more than six people.Justin Welby tweeted on Wednesday morning (September 9): “After contact with Government we hear that there is no change to guidance on places of worship.“Worship is the work of God - not a social gathering - and gives the strength to love and serve.”His comments come as the government is set to impose new rules banning social gatherings of more than six people.The change in the law in England will come into force on Monday as the Government seeks to curb the rise in coronavirus cases.Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the change is 'absolutely vital.
