An apartment block in Manchester city centre was evacuated on Sunday night (December 15) following an 'incident'. Fire crews raced to the scene at Piccadilly Point, a student accommodation building on Berry Street.
The high-rise building, the living quarters for over 500 students, was evacuated as four fire engines arrived on blue lights.
A witness said there was a 'fair amount of smoke' coming from the building. The alarm was later revealed to have been set off due to burnt food that was being cooked.
The incident was stood down and residents were allowed back inside. READ MORE Person rushed to hospital after car overturns in major crash with bike Fire crews remained on the scene for almost an hour.
