Antique's Roadshow guest stunned as guitar owned by John Lennon valued at £400,000

A rare guitar once owned by John Lennon and George Harrison was valued at up to £400,000 on tonight’s Antiques Roadshow. The prototype fretless instrument, made at Bartell’s of California in the sixties, stunned expert Jon Baddeley in this week’s episode from Battle Abbey in Sussex.

Jon, managing director of international auctioneers Bonhams Knightsbridge, said: “In 25 years it’s by far the most expensive thing I’ve ever seen. “To a guitar collector it’s initially a very rare guitar. “Then to somebody who’s a Beatles fan; to own a guitar that was once owned by both John Lennon and George Harrison, can you get a better history? “Two of the most important rock stars of the 20th century.” The current owner worked as a session musician for
