Former Manchester United player Anthony Martial has completed a move to AEK Athens on a free transfer. Martial left United when his contract expired in June, ending his injury-blighted nine years in Manchester, and he has now finally found a new club.
Greek side AEK Athens, who are currently top of the Super League Greece, have signed Martial on a free transfer, which means he won't spend this season without a contract.
David de Gea spent a full year without a club after leaving United on a free transfer in 2023 and interest in signing Martial after his departure from Old Trafford also seemed scarce, but AEK Athens have taken a chance and signed the Frenchman, despite his worrying injury record. The 28-year-old joined United as a teenager from Monaco and made an excellent first impression by scoring against Liverpool on his debut, but he failed to reach his potential.
