Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have shared some exciting news – as they confirmed they are in talks to remake the children's drama Byker Grove after nearly 20 years. They both became stars on this show, with Ant as PJ and Dec as Duncan, starting in 1989.The last time we saw Byker Grove was in 2006 – storylines focused on the adventures of teenagers at a youth club in Newcastle.
Last week, while chatting with Alex Jones and Roman Kemp on The One Show, Ant and Dec said they've started working on a new version.
Dec explained: "We're still at the very beginning of producing it but we are developing it and it is very early days. We are looking at characters and storylines, we are looking at the world because it can be whatever we want it to be.There are a lot of possibilities." But will Ant and Dec be in the new show?
That's still a secret. Ant mentioned: "We haven't decided if we're going to be in it yet, I doubt it though maybe just a cameo." The production company Fulwell 73 has said that the show is for a "primetime audience" and will "engage with a new generation of teenagers navigating the different challenges faced by young adults today." The exciting project comes two years after Ant and Dec started a free programme with the Prince's Trust to help young people get into TV.
