Anne Robinson has been confirmed as the new host of Countdown. She will replace Nick Hewer, who quit the Channel 4 show late last year after lockdown made him reconsider his career.
Anne, 76, is the first woman to lead the show in its history, though Rachel Riley has run the letters and numbers board since 2009 after taking over from Carol Vorderman, while Susie Dent is in dictionary corner.
She said: "I'm very excited I want to rename it as 'Three Clever Girls Do Countdown." Anne will make her on-screen debut this summer.
The news was confirmed on the official Twitter account of another Channel 4 show, Steph's Packed Lunch, which made the announcement by sharing a conundrum for fans to solve.
