Authorities in Texas disrupted two human smuggling attempts near the U.S. and Mexican border. Texas Department of Public Safety Lieutenant Chris Olivarez tweeted on Sunday that a female driver from Mexico, who's an illegal immigrant, made an attempt to smuggle three people into the country.

The Santa Fe International Film Festival is set to screen Night of the Cooters, the short film produced by George R.R. Martin and directed by Vincent D’Onofrio. Martin and D’Onofrio will attend the event for a Q&A scheduled for Wednesday, October 19 at the Jean Cocteau Cinema.

Anne-Marie Ross (née Boysen) whose whose career spanned more than two decades in International Film Distribution at Lionsgate and Pantelion, passed away on Sept. 9 after a near-two year battle with advanced stage cancer caused by a rare gene mutation. She was 49.
