Residents have expressed anger about a south Manchester road that they say is plagued with dangerous drivers. People living in Whalley Range have said they are 'worried' about the risk posed by motorists using Wilbraham Road.

Wilbraham Road (A6010) runs between Fallowfield and Chorlton. The stretch of road is around three miles long, but the first speed camera doesn't appear until shortly past the junction where Wilbraham Road becomes Edge Lane, near Stretford.

The speed limit along the entire stretch is 30mph. The road has seen numerous incidents over the years. Footage of the latest smash, shared with the Manchester Evening News, shows the moment the driver of a BMW narrowly missed a pedestrian and ploughed into a lamppost outside Whalley Range High School.

The crash caused the road to be closed on Tuesday afternoon (February 14) with police hunting the driver after they fled the scene.
