Talisman skipper Harry Kane has looked out of sorts while Southgate has came under fire for experimenting with Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold in an unfamiliar midfield role.England struggled to threaten the Slovenia goal in the first half and only began to look more dangerous going forward when they introduced Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon from the bench in the closing stages.
Spurs boss Postecoglou credited the Southgate for making the changes in a bid to win the game but argues that more technical players should have been selected from the start.Speaking as a pundit on ITV, the ex Celtic gaffer said: "There are solutions there (for Gareth), it's a lot more difficult when you don't (have them).
There is a lot to ponder for him. "Some guys came on and made an impact in the game. I think they were crying out for more technical players tonight and the balance wasn't right.
