Andy Burnham’s mayoral charity has a new face — as the organisation has appointed its first ever chief executive. The Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity, as it is formally known, aims to end homelessness in the city-region.

It started life in 2018, a year after Greater Manchester elected its first ever metropolitan mayor. Now, its new CEO is Fran Darlington-Pollock.

Her job is to grow the organisation, which thus far has raised more than £3 million to support the ‘bed every night’ initiative to curb rough sleeping in Manchester. So many people have donated their time, expertise and money to the Charity to help in this mission in Greater Manchester and the work we’ve been able to do is all thanks to that incredible spirit here. “But we’re not slowing down, we’ve got our biggest ever year of fundraisers ahead, which will ensure we can continue to make a difference for those in their hour of need.” Fran’s role within the organisation has already been apparent, as she is credited with launching a number of high-profile events to raise cash for the charity — including mayoral DJ Battles and 24-hour runs.
