The sight of the newly renovated former Ancoats Hospital has been met with joy. The hospital, which had stood an empty ruin on Old Mill Street for more than 30 years, came close to being pulled down in 2011.
It had been slated for demolition, prompting a backlash from conservationists and activists who formed the Ancoats Dispensary Trust.
