But the songstress spiralled out of control as her turbulent relationship with her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil as well as her drug and alcohol addiction scandalised headlines.
The Rehab hitmaker was found dead aged 27 at her home in Camden, North London on July 23 in 2011 following binge drinking. More than five times the legal drink drive limit of alcohol was traced in her blood.
Her death was given a ruling of misadventure. The tragedy spurred her family on to launch the Amy Winehouse Foundation to help vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.
