Edward Regan Murphy (born April 3, 1961) is an American actor, comedian, and singer.

Murphy was a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1984. He has worked as a stand-up comedian and was ranked No. 10 on Comedy Central's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time.

In films, Murphy has received Golden Globe Award nominations for his performances in 48 Hrs., the Beverly Hills Cop series, Trading Places, The Nutty Professor, and Dolemite Is My Name. Angelique Jackson The American Cinematheque awards, scheduled for November 4, has been postponed due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.

Helen Mirren was previously announced to be the recipient of the 37th American Cinematheque Award, with Kevin Goetz and Screen Engine set to be honored with the Power of Cinema Award, presented by Hill Valley.

The new date for the annual awards ceremony, held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, will be announced in the coming weeks.

In the initial announcement in June, American Cinematheque Board chair Rick Nicita explained why Mirren had been selected for the honor. “Helen Mirren has won the Oscar, Tony and Emmy triple crown of acting, and is an unparalleled icon among actors.
