Amazon MGM Studios is eyeing a live-action Masters of the Universe film, based on the popular ’80s toys from Mattel, Deadline can confirm.
While in very early talks, the project would come over to the streamer from Netflix, where it fell apart over the summer. Believed to be continuing on with the project are Adam and Aaron Nee (The Lost City), the writer-directors who’d been at work on it for Netflix.
Then, there’s Kyle Allen, who had been set for the starring role of Prince Adam aka He-Man. Among those set to produce is Todd Black.
Masters of the Universe centers on the orphan Adam, who comes to discover he’s a prince destined to save a faraway land from the threat of the evil wizard Skeletor.
