We've all been there, stuck in a WhatsApp group that's filling your inbox up. It can be tricky to leave the chat, and it's often easier to let old chats sink to the bottom of your inbox.
In the past, WhatsApp didn't have a way to exit a group chat without notifying everyone in the chat that someone had "left".This could lead to some uncomfortable follow-up conversations and questions.
But there's been an update that not many people are aware of that makes leaving a group chat less awkward. This problem was fixed in a 2022 update by the messaging platform.
It allows you to leave with minimal drama. To leave a WhatsApp group, you can do the following: Open WhatsApp and tap the Chats tab Select the group you want to leave Tap the group name at the top of the screen Tap the group chat icon to open the chat's info page Scroll down and tap Exit Group Confirm your exit by tapping Exit Group again You'll get a prompt reminding you that "only admins" will be alerted that you've decided to leave the chat.
