Ally McCoist reacts to Match of the Day host rumours as Rangers legend hits out at 'cop out'

Ally McCoist isn't so sure about the BBC turning to a cast of rotating hosts to replace Gary Lineker in the Match of the Day chair – and a radio colleague branded it a 'cop out' live on air.

It's the end of an era on the Beeb's flagship Premier League highlights show with Lineker to step down at the end of the season.

He'll continue hosting live football for the broadcaster, but for the first time this century, he will vacate the MOTD presenter's chair for good.

It's led to droves of speculation over who could replace him, from regular Match of the Day 2 anchor Mark Chapman among the obvious frontrunners while others such as Alex Scott, Gabby Logan and Jason Mohammad have been mooted.A story run by The Sun on Wednesday morning suggested one possible solution under consideration is a 'job share' between Chapman and Kelly Somers, known for presenting on other BBC Sport broadcasts and Sky Sports News.
