Alleged drink driver wrecked car in Glasgow M8 crash then 'fled scene wearing one shoe'

A suspected drink driver was caught after cops found him wearing just one trainer which matched one left behind inside a crashed car.Police were called to the scene on the M8 in Shieldhal l, Glasgow, shortly before midnight on Hogmanay following reports of a one vehicle crash.Officers quickly discovered a stray left trainer lying beside a glass decanter and a Royal Mail missed parcel slip on the front passenger seat of the wrecked car.Police Scotland say the alleged driver was soon found at shops nearby wearing the right shoe.Sharing pictures of the crash aftermath, Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “It wasn't a ‘glass slipper" but the trainer certainly fit the drunk driver of this car who ran away from an RTC on the M8 wearing only one. Miraculously, no third party damage or injury to any person.“Driver ran away wearing only one trainer. Traced by police at nearby shops with his one trainer which matched the one left in the car.“Arrested, charged and released when sober with a future court date.
