Parents and teachers have been reacting to the news that all UK schools, colleges and nurseries are to close. Today the government's education secretary Gavin Williamson confirmed the closures will be in place from the end of school on Friday as the UK steps up its fight to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Schools and nurseries will be asked to stay open for vulnerable youngsters and children of key workers including NHS staff, police officers, care workers and delivery drivers.

It comes after schools were put on alert last week that they might well need to shut their doors and teachers were told to prepare ‘home-learning packs’ for students.
