Officers initially spotted the children sitting on a barrier on the central reservation of the motorway at around 1.45am this morning (Sunday).All traffic then had to be stopped between junction 21 for Milnrow and Shaw and junction 22 for Saddleworth after the kids reportedly ran across the carriageway.Once it was deemed safe, traffic was released at around 2am.Officers tried to locate the kids but were unable to find them after they ran away from the scene.In an initial tweet, North West Motorway Police said: "We have a report of children sat on barrier in central reserve - running across the carriageway patrols.
