High street giants such as WHSmith and The Entertainer are set to close more stores next year. According to the Centre for Retail Research, an estimated 8,543 retail outlets in the UK shut their doors throughout 2024.

This is largely attributed to consumers having less disposable income due to a significant increase in bills during the cost of living crisis, coupled with higher rents and costs for retailers.

Several businesses have already expressed concerns over costs for the upcoming year, following Chancellor Rachel Reeves' confirmation of an increase in National Insurance costs paid by employers, reports the Mirror.

We've compiled a list of all the shops that are expected to close in 2025 so far. WHSmith is set to close its Winton branch in Bournemouth, Dorset, on February 15.
