Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. He has judged on the British television talent competition series Pop Idol (2001–2003), The X Factor (2004–2010, 2014–present) and Britain's Got Talent (2007–present), and the American television talent competition series American Idol (2002–2010), The X Factor (2011–2013), and America's Got Talent (2016–present). Cowell is the principal, founder and chief executive of the British entertainment company Syco.

The coronavirus crisis has been devastating for businesses up and down the country, including both high street chains and restaurants.

Most places were forced to stay shut for large parts of 2020 due to the ongoing restrictions - although many were suffering before the pandemic.

This is largely down to changing consumer trends, with more people shopping online and switching up the way they shop. But the coronavirus crisis has accelerated closures for many.

Almost 10,000 licensed premises - including pubs, clubs and restaurants - closed permanently last year, while around 17,500 chain store outlets shut their doors in 2020.
