Labour’s Sadiq Khan is hoping to claim a second victory after holding onto the role for an additional year due to the postponement of local elections in 2020.
Bookmakers have made the incumbent the odds-on favourite to win a second term, with Tory candidate Shaun Bailey a distant second in the race.
Voters choose the mayor using the supplementary vote system, picking a first and a second preference for the job. Mr Khan was elected in 2016 with 44.2 per cent of the first-round votes and 56.8 per cent of the second-round votes.
