Alison Brie has got Carey Mulligan’s back. In December, a Variety review of dark comedy “Promising Young Woman” (in which Brie and Mulligan appeared) by Variety‘s Dennis Harvey implied that Mulligan was miscast in the role of a “femme fatale” because she wasn’t attractive enough to play a woman for the role.
In an interview with the New York Times, Mulligan admitted she “took issue” with the review (Variety issued a formal apology to the actress), and Brie agrees with Mulligan’s assessment. “It was pretty egregious,” Brie told Insider of the review. “I felt really proud of Carey for speaking up about it because that idea is terrifying.
