Alex Salmond is set to go on trial today over accusations of sexual assault, including one of attempted rape. The former first minister of Scotland arrived at the High Court in Edinburgh where he faces 14 charges of alleged offences against 10 women between 2008 and 2014.
He denies all the charges against him and vowed to defend himself vigorously during the trial. His trial will be heard in front of judge Lady Dorrian , Scotland’s second most senior judicial post and the highest held by a woman, and is expected to last for around four weeks.
The charges against the 65-year-old include one of attempted rape, 11 of sexual assault - including one with intent to rape - and two of indecent assault .
