Council, today announced they would be voting for the Alba Party in the regional list. Both senior politicians also said they would be casting their constituency for Nicola Sturgeon's party.
The Alba Party was set up just over a week ago by the former First Minister to attempt to establish a 'super-majority' for independence in the Holyrood chamber.
A new poll has forecast that Alba will be elected as part of a huge majority of pro-independence MSPs. The snapshot shows Nicola Sturgeon’s SNP on course for an overall majority - with the Greens and Alba also ensuring the pro-indy parties win 79 of the 129 seats.
Vernal, who has decided to leave the SNP, said: "With Alex Salmond heading up the ALBA Candidates for the North East I am delighted.
