Alex Salmond will today finally give evidence to an inquiry that has led to a crisis at the top of Scottish politics. The former First Minister has accused people in the Scottish government of a conspiracy to “damage” his reputation when he was accused of harassment in 2018.
Salmond claimed the process was unfair - and he was vindicated when a judicial review ruled in his favour in 2019. The Scottish Government was forced to pay more than £500,000 in legal fees.
Since then he has accused Nicola Sturgeon - his former deputy and now SNP leader - of breaking the Ministerial Code by failing to account for a meeting while the saga unfolded.
