The Former First Minister is standing for his new Alba party on the North East Scotland regional list. The pro-independence party has put up 32 candidates across the country in a bid to create a "super-majority" for 'yes' in the Holyrood chamber.
Alba is looking to secure at least one MSP from an area where Salmond has been successful in the past as an MP and an MSP. He said: "What I see is Alba in certain ballot boxes in the North East scoring 10 per cent.
Now unfortunately that's not across the North East and it looks like we're going to fall a bit short in the seat we were looking for. "It seems we haven't made the parliamentary breakthrough we were looking for.
