Aidan Gillen says there’s ‘a responsibility not to glorify crime’ in new drama Kin

RTÉ One’s new crime drama Kin has already been marked as the latest rival to the infamous Love/Hate series, as both centre around crime gangs in Dublin.

However, crime isn’t the only thing Kin and Love/Hate have in common, with actor Aidan Gillen starring in both series. And one thing that Aidan has always remained cautious of during these crime series, is the fact that the issues and scenarios they depict actually happen in real life.

That means there’s a fine line between entertainment and glorifying what the characters are doing – with Aidan admitting this is something he has thought about ‘quite a lot’.
