Addict who tried to burn down family home turns his life around with recovery company

An alcoholic who lost his wife and kids after he tried to burn down his dream family home that he had built was hit with the sudden realisation of what he had done while sitting alone in a prison cell, accompanied by a heavy hangover.

Dad of three, Daniel Fincham developed a bad relationship with alcohol from the young age of 15, described his first sip as ''love at first drink'', the Manchester Evening News reports.

However, what started out as binge drinking at the weekend turning into a non stop habit which led Daniel down the road of drinking four bottles of wine per day and vomiting up his stomach lining each morning just to make himself feel better.

Daniel, from Hale, said: “I liked skipping into work knowing I’d had a few gin and tonics because no one knew, I thought, ‘If everyone likes going out on the weekend, why don’t we all just live in this world?’''And that’s what I did – I gave my power to alcohol.” Daniel's alcohol addiction began to spiral out of control while he was studying at university as he described the rush of adrenaline he would feel in the mornings as he knew he was about to have a drink.“I couldn’t believe the cape it gave me,” the 39-year-old said. “I felt like I could be what the world wanted me to be.
