A new ’24’ film is reportedly in the works
nme.com24 is in “early development” according to reports.As per Variety, the film is reportedly in development at 20th Century Studios according to sources who spoke to the outlet.The original series was created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran for Fox and ran for nine seasons between 2001 and 2014.
A television film called Redemption arrived in 2008 and a spin-off, 24: Legacy, aired in 2016.In the original incarnation of the show, Kiefer Sutherland starred as Jack Bauer, an agent from a fictitious “Counter Terrorist Unit” (CTU) in the US government.
Each episode famously followed a 24 hour structure in real-time.The series received 68 Emmy nominations and won 20 during its run, including ones for outstanding drama series and lead actor for Sutherland.Back in 2020, a revival of 24 was first teased, with reports of Kiefer Sunderland reprising his role as Jack Bauer.
Former 24 showrunner Howard Gordon teased the news of a new project at a Homeland panel, according to Deadline at the time.Earlier this year, Imagine Entertainment co-founder Brian Grazer also teased the project.As per Variety, he said: “Imagine has always played in that zone where there is that high probability chance that it will be successful in movie theatres.
